Nope, I just think Nick is *that* good. He's a super spy - as Tony says, THE spy. I figure Nick knows about the Doctor and he hears about this companion (let's remember - depending what they do with Avengers movie verse, in comic verse, Nick takes the Infinity Serum and is about a century old! - Churchill knew him and gave him a commando brigade, Nick eventually became a CIA agent too - regular Nick Fury - Ultimates Nick Fury was given a super soldier serum that acted much the same way - and was around from WW2 as well)
I'm just figuring he's Nick Fury, he knows everything and when he hears about the Doctor recommending Martha Jones, he decides to get to her first. Or maybe just in his years alive, he keeps track of the Doctor's companions to recruit - (1930 New York - Fury grew up in New York, Dr.Lazarus' project which I'm sure Fury/SHIELD would've noticed, Weeping Angels sending them to 1960s London, being present on the Valiant when the US president was killed (omg does the Valiant make me think of the helicarrier..)
Anyways, yeah. I just figure he doesn't talk to the Doctor, he just picks up info on him.... after all, alien who visits Earth lots and is involved in saving it/endangering it.
