avamcleanI found the family to be generic; pretty and intelligent mother, hardheaded and remorseful father, socially awkward and intelligent teenage daughter, rebellious and brave teenage son and let us not forget the adorable third child!
It’s a cookie cutter family drama with an interesting backdrop, but the backdrop isn’t nearly enough to hold the audience’s attention if the characters are so damn boring. The only moments that felt remotely real were between the father and the youngest child he’s trying to reconnect with.
The fact that some critics compared this show to LOST confounds me. LOST grabbed your focus and attention from the first episode and all the characters we diverse and interesting. Terra Nova lacks that polish and realism.
I plan to tune in next week, but if the only interesting character remains to be Mira, who had a total of five minutes of screen time, I might have to call this show a bust and move on. Here’s to hoping though!
