Hello to anyone who might be still reading my journal! I went ahead and signed up for the [community profile] heroinebigbang and while I feel a smidgen anxious about it I do believe I can handle 10K words by the end of January. I signed up for Buffy Summers as my heroine (I find it the easiest to slip into her noggin so no need to challenge myself just yet). ;)

However, I've wrote nada this month other than finishing a Faith scene that had been giving my fits. My goal is to get a little written for the 9th chapter of History for Sale tonight. Wish my luck and hopefully I'll come back with an update later this evening.

Update:
I stayed up too late but I got 1300 words written. They need editing something fierce but progress.

I’d hoped to get started back up on [community profile] tamingthemuse  this week. The community had switched to Dreamwidth after the whole LJ user agreement fiasco, but it hasn’t been updated since the middle of August. I was looking forward to the structure of the community even if the words sometimes confounded me.

So I’m going to attempt to challenge myself. I located a random word generator (via a handy-dandy Google search) and it provided me with these 12 words. Over the next 12 weeks I’m going to tackle one a week and write story/scene/chapter inspired by these words. I’m going to go in the order the words were presented to me (no skipping).

Please feel free to join in my madness.

I wasn’t feeling the love because I’d forgotten to actually join the het_banghelp community. I’m a little slow on the uptake sometimes, but apparently they do twice weekly check-ins. Hopefully, that will help me keep on track.

Now to just get myself writing tonight… *stares blankly at the cursor*

Damn thing is mocking me.

Cheerfully stolen from [livejournal.com profile] mhalachaiswords and hopefully given a good home.

It's the last day of my vacation. *sniffle* I managed to get all but four crates sanded for my shelving unit (which is like half of what I wanted to accomplish). However I do have tomorrow and Sunday to get some sanding done and I'm pretty sure I can finish at least that portion. Woot!

I am working on rewriting portions of the mavel!bunny to make it current with marvel universe. I'm doing this for reasons and hopefully only a couple of scenes need to be completely rewritten and just a few tweaks on the others.

I'm likely going to start nagging a few of my f-list buds to read over things as I progress. I'm looking at you [livejournal.com profile] kerrykhat, [livejournal.com profile] jedibuttercup and [livejournal.com profile] pprfaith. (Pol, you go without saying, but I just said it so there.) I think with enough peeps asking what happens next I'll plow through the rewrites and complete this beast. Can 25K and counting be considered a beast? *shrugs* I'm gonna say yes.

Edit: Totally forgot to drag [livejournal.com profile] sulien into this and you probably thought you'd dodged that bullet...

The most important things to remember about back story are that (a) everyone has a history and (b) most of it isn’t very interesting.” —Stephen King

That being said I’m working on the 10 questions you should ask every character and I fully intend to subject you all to my answers as I work my way through the characters of my original series. Stay tuned. ;)

Just an FYI: Twisting the Hellmouth is having server issues and had to be moved early to its new server. (The old server was having the issues.) But this move has happened weeks ahead of schedule and so the site is currently in read only mode while all the kinks are worked out. This process will likely take several days so please be patient.

The forums have also been moved to the new sever and appear to be fully functional. Please check there for updates TtH Forums. (The new sever is located on (dot) net rather than (dot) org.)

On a personal note I got a lot accomplished getting one of my spare bedrooms ready for a bed. One of my coworkers had a littles and doesn't have use for a queen bed in that room any longer. So free bed! I'm not too proud to be excited by this. :)

I also wrote my response to this week's prompt on
[livejournal.com profile] tamingthemuse tonight. Some will be happy to know that it's more of my We Find Ourselves series (aka Hank Summers/Walking Dead Series).

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

The Annual Lung Cancer 5K in honor of my dad came and went. I can't believe we've walked 3 in of honor of him already. Though my sister punked out on me and walked the 1 mile memorial walk with my mom and her family rather than do the 5K with me. We won't speak of my time, but needless to say I'm talking up walking every other day again.

I got a little writing done this week. I added another scene to the Marvel!bunny and "finished" one of my [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic stories. The air quotes are around the finished because it's now entered the three day rest period in which I'm not allowed to mess around with it so I look at with fresh eyes for the editing process. I hope to get another one done this week and then work on the Marvel!bunny some more.

I'm only hoping since my brother's wedding is on Thursday and I'm attending a burlesque show on Friday night. The rest of the weekend will likely be filled with family since a lot of them are down for the wedding. Should be an interesting next few days.

I hope life is treating you all well!

Plotting the events of BtVS without Buffy and Xander present is an interesting process and definitely tests my knowledge of both series. The most difficult part will be deciding how/why Wesley follows Angel to Los Angeles - especially since the Mayor is a non-issue. Though I suppose if Faith quit the Council just because she thought he was a putz he'd likely get fired then as well. ;)

It always bothers me when writers yank a character out of the series, but the blocks all tumble in the same neat rows (IE Willow still attempts to end the world even though Tara doesn’t die). I’m bucking that trend and mucking up some plotlines. I might also be killing a few (more/different) characters along the way.

Needless to say the Marvel!bunny still owns my muse.

Have a look at the list behind the cut and give me up to 3 numbers.

Research on wolves has brought up a conundrum. Genetic research done in 2008 states that wolves lack the genetic mutation that causes melanism (aka a dark color pigment). It's only found in domestic dogs which means wolves today that are fully black actually have domestic dog somewhere in their genetic history. Black pigment, like dark hair, is dominant and therefore more likely to occur if present in the genetic makeup.

We all know that domestic dogs are the genetic decedents of the gray wolf. So I'm assuming this means that the genetic mutation didn't happen until after humans started domesticating them. (It would make sense because inbreeding had to have happened to create the different breeds we have of domestic dogs nowadays.)

My issue is that I'd intended to have black wolves in this original series I'm working on, but that won't work with back-story I've created for werewolves/shifters. I know the coloring of the wolf shouldn't matter, but for some reason it does and yet I can't ignore the science. Artist licenses aside I think I need to rework how Bryn's wolf looks in my head. Her bloodlines from France and they don't have black wolves at all... drat. (I could make her redish in color since all of France's wolf legends on wolves gives them red in their fur. Of course red doesn't feel right. Boo.)

Why did I start reading books on wolves in the first place? Science makes fantasy harder. :)

I've started no less than three short stories for the [livejournal.com profile] twistedshorts, but none of them are finished. Darnit. I've got a Marvel!bunny that is basically character introduction fluff, a continuation of SPN ficlet collection and a random Teen Wolf bunny that came outta nowhere.

I did finish another scene in the monstrous Marvel!bunny last night. I watched 6 episodes of Angel to write a 1000 word scene. Apparently I'm dedicated to my craft. *snort* Or perhaps I thought the scene would take longer.

Happy reading and writing all!

It's hard to give equal time/love to my original!bunny and the Marvel!bunny since Marvel apparently still owns my soul. It's kinda ridiculous at this point and it doesn't help that I'm counting down the days until Captain America:Winter Soldier comes out on BluRay.

Is it 9/9/14 yet? Like yesterday, please?

I think the Marvel!bunny is coming along pretty well. It's been awhile since I tackled something this big. I didn't intend for it to be this big. Whoops? I might post the first scene at some point to get some feedback. Well, it's not the first-first scene. That's a fight scene, but this scene sets up the plot of the story. Did I mention this story had violence?

The origina!bunny is coming along slower, mostly because I can't seem to write around the fact that not all the characters have names yet. Names are important. Names help me visualize the characters. It's a process.

I shall leave you with this song by Alex Clare. It feeds the Marvel!bunny. (Nothing feeds the original!bunny currently. I should work on that.)

Broke out the sketch pad and pencils tonight to try and figure out how I think the bones in a dragon's wing would look like and work. I'm not overly fond of the four legs plus wings concept and therefore my dragon will have wings similar to a bats.

Which means my internet browsing history now consists of searches for images of bat, human and chameleon bones. Nothing weird about that. ;)

Also my drawing skills are rusty as all hell. I might need to dedicate some time to getting those back up to snuff.

My area of Florida keeps getting storms around the time I'm heading to bed and it's kinda fantastic because I love the sound of rain and thunder and wind. It's soothing. My lawn also needs the love. It's suppose to do this all through the weekend too. I'm gonna sleep so damn deep. :D

I revisited the Marvel!bunny and managed to get 1600 words written of the next scene. 1600 words and the entire point of the scene is finally reached. Since when did fight scenes need so much exposition to reach them? Who needs plot?! I mean seriously! ;)

Also Xander wormed his way into this story so I might need a Xander fan to read over what I've written of him at some point before posting. I'm looking at you [livejournal.com profile] kaylashay. Though to be fair I do intend to Joss him. You know what that means.

I shall leave you with this video of Brendon Urie who is the lead singer of Panic! at the Disco. He's part of the inspiration for Emerson (one of the characters for the original story).

For those of you not in the know 'puppies and kittens' is the phrase I use when I'm unable to swear or come up with a phrase that properly articulates my rage while at work. I try not to swear at work.

Apparently I'm supposed to provide the moderators with possible places to go and request artists if it's a small fandom. I'm not entirely certain there is a place, but can any of you recommend somewhere for original writing?

Or, if you're so inclined, volunteer to be my artist?

I went ahead and signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] journeystory bigbang and my declaration is 10,000 words of original fiction. Which hopefully won't be an impossible feat since I've got the concept for the story and while some of the characters will require an overhaul (Gwen the witch is getting a revamp and a new name) I have a good feeling that I'm actually going to be finish this story.

I thought about using my current Marvel!bunny for because I'm certain that's going to be longer that 10,000 words, but I want to write that one at my own pace and that pace will likely have it completed and ready for public consumption long before the December posting dates of the bigbang.

Y'all are cool with getting to read that one sooner rather than later, right? ;)

The Captain America:Winter Soldier story now has a name, 'History for Sale,' and it's about 3000 words and counting. I've got numerous snippets and bits dialogue started so the word counts probably higher, but the completed scenes total 3K.

That is all. *bounces* Back to writing I shall go!

Edit: Also if anyone on the Flist is familiar with Russian please give me shout. I'd like to not butcher the language if at all possible.

So I'm working my way through this fight scene and I've come to part in which the Buffster actually has to use her strength. We've never actually been told how strong a Slayer is supposed to be and while it did tend to waiver from episode to episode I'm a little torn on who is supposed to be stronger. Steve Rogers or a Slayer?

Steve is able to bench press 1200 pounds. According to the role-playing game a Slayer can bench press 800.

I know Buffy was shown carrying an I-Beam in season 6 which depending on how long it was (from the screencaps I'd say about 15 feet or possibly smaller) the heaviest I-Beam is 22 lbs per foot which means it would weigh about 330 lbs.Faith once picked up a 200 lb barbell one handed in AtS and then popped another inmate in the face with it. So that's inline with the 800 as well and it's possible the longer a Slayer is active the stronger they become. Possibly Faith and Buffy are closer to 1000 lbs now.

But the question remains: who is stronger?

My research has me leaning towards Steve.

I'm not asking who is the better fighter. (Though that one would be tough to answer as well.) In this instance in the fight I need to know who is physically stronger.

Discuss. Debate. Help a writer out. ;)

The owner of the lawn-service is being a generous soul and only charging me between $100-150 to trim back the Brazilian Pepper Tree(s) - apparently they're plural and on both sides of my property. Fantastic. He's also going to trim back all the vegetation encroaching on my property line and clean up the bushes in front of my home for free. He's a sweetheart and a gentleman and thank goodness that by this time next week my property will be all shiny and less Secret Garden-ish. :)

I have not seen an ant crawling up the outside of my house which is delightful and I keep looking every time I go outside. The kitties are still not allowed in the garage, their favorite hunting ground for spiders, because I'm not certain what types of chemicals they used in there. I wasn't home when the job was done and since the garage is not considered 'inside the house' they might of treated it with far more poisonous sprays. I just took the kitties for their annual checkup. They don't need to see the vet again this soon.

I'm also working on the Captain America plotbunny (at least one of them) and there will be violence. So far I've got at the very least three fight scenes planned and I'm blocking out the first one. Hallways are narrow and confined and sound like a challenge. :D I do so love to write the violence.
