I watched this movie because Karl Urban and according to IMDB he was supposed to be a lead, but I would think of him as more supporting. The lead was Amber Heard, which was no hardship because she’s gorgeous and badass in nearly all she’s in, so I was able to make my way through to the end.
It’s the normal an American in a foreign country and runs into trouble of the sex trafficking sort. Amber Heard holds her own against a colorful cast of caricatures and while I am well aware that kidnapping is very prevalent in Argentina and most of South American countries the movie still doesn’t flesh out the Latino characters enough for my taste.
I did like the twist they present for Karl Urban’s character. He portrayed a man looking for his missing girl friend while Heard is looking for her missing friend. The parallel of their stories was a little heavy handed, but the choppy camera work and plot made it so that all the characters outside Heard were to be suspected of ill intent.
It’s a descent movie and if you can catch it on Lifetime, like I did, do I recommend you give it 2 hours of your time. It was well acted and gave you a heroine worth rooting for while making you guess which person is actually on her side.
