In 2004 the FDA approved leeches and maggots as medical devices. I guess when antibiotics fail we go back to what we *use* to know.

*beams* I learn something new and somewhat disturbing everyday.

Um...yikes! I think I prefer modern medicine to leeches and maggots.

Sterile maggots are can be very useful in certain situations. Since maggots only eat dead flesh, they are very useful. Surgeries can cut out good, healthy flesh because they aren't as delicate. Maggots only eat the dead flesh and leave the healthy, living flesh alone. It's often times easier and much more efficient.
